Shark and Stingray Pups Camp (Ages 6-8)
Discover the mysteries and misconceptions about elasmobranch animals, such as sharks and stingrays! Travel with us to the Florida Aquarium and Fish and Wildlife Research Institute to get up close and personal with live sharks and rays and learn how scientists study and protect these incredibly important animals. This camp also includes a unique opportunity for campers to learn about and help take care of Coral Catsharks, a small species of shark native to the Indo-West Pacific Ocean that will be featured at Secrets of the Sea Marine Exploration Center and Aquarium.
Young shark and ray pup campers will learn more about these mysterious and misunderstood animals through hands on activities and crafts. Older shark and ray campers will delve further into the science by studying shark anatomy with a shark dissection!
Other weeks of camp include Marine Mammals, Sea Sleuths, Angler Adventures Fishing, and Estuary Explorers. The campers will take field trips to local islands, beaches, and aquariums. Activities include collections at the nearby beach, exploration of the natural world using marine science instruments, and crafts.
