The Loft Art Gallery Presents the Work of Aaron Corbitt
This May, The Loft Art Gallery will be home to the collection of plein air, alla prima paintings titled “Women,” by Aaron Corbitt.
Corbitt’s exhibit runs through May 31 and makes its debut during downtown Lakeland’s First Friday festivities on May 2. A free reception with live music, wine and hors d’oeuvres is schedule for 6 – 9 p.m.
The “Women” collection contains 30 oil paintings on canvas and 50 sketches in pencil and charcoal. An expression of love, the series of paintings portrays naturalism through the human form and intends to evoke passion, not lust, with each piece taking two to three hours to complete.
Corbitt chose to paint this series to articulate love through the beautiful varieties of sight, and to convey the naked body as something to appreciate, not to be described as profane, he says.
The Loft Art Gallery is located upstairs in Paint Along Studios: 123 S. Kentucky Ave. Hours are: Mondays, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Tuesdays-Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Fridays 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Saturdays, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Call (863) 409-5771 for more information or visit www.loftartgallerydowntown.com.
