Sweetwater Workshop Series: A Local Food Security Program: Springtime Container Gardening with Willow LaMonte
General Event Information
Sunday, February 3rd 12:30-2:30
The easiest and most popular time for growing vegetables in central Florida is the warm, mild springtime. Urban growers can create organic gardens in safe, plastic-free containers. Learn techniques for planting from seeds or transplants, avoiding overcrowding and plant diseases, growing nutritious microgreens, natural pest prevention, and extending the season.
Folk Herbalist Willow LaMonte is a long-time organic gardener and wild crafter. She is a member of the American
Herbalist Guild, the Florida Herb Society, and United Plant Savers. Amidst oak trees in Valrico she grows a small
organic herb nursery and botanical gardens, Willow Herbal Delight Gardens, using Permaculture methods. She
loves to dream in Neolithic.
