Sarasota Chalk Festival
The Sarasota Chalk Festival begins on Wednesday, November 13 with designing the 3-D works to be drawn on Pineapple Avenue near the intersection with Orange Avenue at Burns Square in Sarasota. Most of Pineapple Avenue will be used for the festival this year, extending north beyond Main Street to the middle of Five Points Park, but the roundabouts will remain open to traffic. The festival runs through Monday, November 18 and every phase is fascinating.
Admission is free, but we do ask for the donations we depend upon from those who can help support our volunteer-run organization with the expenses of bringing more than 500 artists from around the world to volunteer their skills for this internationally recognized event, creating masterpieces on the pavement. Your donations of any amount will help to supply them with their materials, food, and lodging. Every year we also fund the work of hundreds of children and this year with our theme, "Legacy of Valor - honoring veterans, inspiring patriotism, and embracing freedom," we will be featuring veterans who will join in the chalking and special events we are planning.
Get involved, the festival becomes a success only because of its donors and volunteers. It is rewarding and fun. We have drastically restructured the volunteer roles to improve the experience for all. Contact us at participate@ChalkFestival.com, (941) 954-5800, or stop by the chalk festival office at 530 S. Orange Avenue, Sarasota 34236.
