We're talking about speed-dating on this University Beat on WUSF 89.7: not singles looking for love, but small businesses and government agencies hoping to hook up. We'll have a preview of the USF Small Business Development Center's upcoming “Matchmaking” event and hear from a small business owner who found a number of government suitors with the Center's help.

She also talks about how important her alma mater, USF, was to her during her 8 years as Mayor. Michael R. Howard, president of the architectural firm that designed the interior of the new USF School of Music Building, explains how the rooms in the school don’t actually touch one another and seemingly ‘float,’ like boxes inside of larger boxes. USF College of the Arts Dean Dr. Ronald Jones says the tremendous acoustics of the new facility will help the students out immensely. He also talks about how it will become another great venue for musical performances in the Bay area. USF Choral Conducting Graduate student Brett Karlin says the promise of the new building helped him decide to come to USF to study. |

USF College of the Arts Dean, Dr. Ronald Jones, is leaving USF after 13 years at the end of the month to become President of the Memphis College of Art. St. Pete Times article on his departure is here, where Dr. Jones has some interesting comments for Florida legislators.
