USF GeoExpo / Florida Dance Festival
This week’s University Beat on WUSF-TV/DT takes you to the recent “USF GeoExpo,” where students from both USF and area high schools got a chance to see the latest high-tech gear used in the geosciences and talk to some of the experts looking at the earth and water around us.
For the first time in a dozen years, USF is hosting the Florida Dance Festival. This week's University Beat on WUSF 89.7 FM previews the event, which starts June 15th and brings together professional dancers and choreographers from around the country for workshops and public performances.
Eileen Rodriguez, a director of the USF Geology Alumni Society, says almost everyone attending the USF GeoExpo has a positive reaction. She also talks about why she feels the USF Geology Department is so strong.
Lindsey Brewer, student liaison to the Geology Alumni Society, talks about the importance of fieldwork, including that at USF’s campus GeoPark. She also answers the question: what are geosciences?
Mike Wightman, President of GeoView, Inc., and a 1989 graduate of USF, talks about why his company attends the GeoExpo and the importance of students learning the latest technology in the field of geophysics.
