Lying is ok?
I just can't understand how at least half of the American public doesn't seem to mind being lied to. The Romney/Ryan duo have lied repeatedly over and over and no one with the power to do so takes a stand. I understand that NPR wants to stay "objective." But at some point, don't you have a duty to the public you serve to say what is true and what isn't? And I will give you the benefit of the doubt and maybe you have when I haven't been tuned in.
I would like to call attention to two flyers that I received in the mail today, both from the "Americans for Tax Reform." They are both trying to frighten seniors to believe that their Medicare is going to be affected by "Obamacare." Yes, it will and has been affected, but in a good way--the donut hole has been diminished! Nothing about Obamacare is going to take away their Medicare benefits. On the other hand, the Republican stated agenda absolutely WILL affect their Medicare benefits. These flyers are both very misleading and could be very frightening to someone who is dependent on Medicare, as many are in our state. The flyer, in part, says "Your healthcare could be THREATENED. To help pay for his big-government healthcare plan, Obama slashed Medicare spending by 716 billion.Etc Etc. Obamacare empowers a group of 15 unelected officials to further cut Medicare spending, which could restrict access to care for even more seniors on Medicare."
Why is it that in America you can lie all you want to, as a public official, as a potential presidential candidate, as a former governer, and no one calls it like it is? So the state of Florida is potentially going to help elect a liar who is not ashamed of lying as long as it gets him where he wants to be--in power. How can he look at himself in the mirror someday knowing that people may die because they didn't get the healthcare they need. And yes, Governor Romney people DO die alone in their apartments and homes because they didn't have healthcare coverage. I really don't understand anyone who could vote for the Romney/Ryan ticket, because the two of them and their followers just don't care much about human beings--they care about money and power.
