Q&A With USF President Judy Genshaft on Proposed State Budget Cuts

TAMPA (2012-2-15) -

University of South Florida President Judy Genshaft is working feverishly to stop as much as a 60 percent proposed cut in state allocations. During an interview with WUSF, she expressed hope the House's proposed budget - which includes a nearly 12 percent cut to USF next year - would be closer to the final figure coming out of Tallahassee.

Genshaft sounded optimistic when asked if she believes USF can escape the worst of the budget cuts. She also says she's not sure what would happen to USF Polytechnic if it goes independent - but says she would like to keep the people who work and go to that school within the USF system - if she can.
