"Extreme" Water Park Proposed for Pasco

| Coming soon to Pasco County parks? |
An extreme sports park and a sports complex for young athletes have taken a step closer to reality in Pasco County. County commissioners like the ideas - but have lots of questions.
The two different proposals: one to build a water skiing and waterboarding park and another to build a sports complex with soccer and baseball fields got the attention of Pasco commissioners on Wednesday.
Chairwoman Anne Hildebrand says the county commissioners voted 5 to 0 for the county officials to talk details with the project reps.
"It doesn't mean that we have blessed it and said it's all complete yet," says Hildebrand. "They still have to go through the process of meeting with our staff."
Hildebrand says one big question - how many people will these facilities attract?
"Is this going to be something that's going to do the proverbial thing of bringing people to put heads to beds in the hotels?" she asked.
If it's finally approved, the commissioners also agreed to spend up to $11 million from tourist development money.
