Everyday Adventures with Terry Tomalin of the Times

Terry Tomalin's Everyday Adventures
TAMPA (2011-11-22) -

Terry Tomalin says sometimes people think he once belonged to the French Foreign Legion. Truth is, this middle-class kid from New Jersey figured out how to rough it by getting outside after he moved to Florida.

Tomalin is the Outdoors Editor for the St. Petersburg Times. He's written a how-to book to help people get off the couch and explore spots like the Hillsborough River, which he says looks much like it did 500 years ago.

"Everyday Adventures" dives into 80 different excursions from swimming with the manatees and hooking spotted sea trout to tracking the elusive skunk ape.

Tomalin will be talking about his book at different spots Thanksgiving weekend, including Book Bank, Friday, 11/25 at 2, and Saturday 11/26 at Barnes & Noble in Clearwater, on North U.S. 19.
