George LeMieux's Half-True Claim about Adam Hasner

Former Sen. George LeMieux has a new commercial saying the Christian Coalition once gave rival Adam Hasner an “F” – but PolitiFact rated that claim Half-true.

In the war over who's the true conservative in the GOP Senate primary, former Sen. George LeMieux has a new commercial accusing former House Speaker Adam Hasner of committing conservative apostasy in several ways.

LeMieux’s commercial says the Christian Coalition once gave Hasner an “F” – but PolitiFact rated that claim as “Half-true.”

Holan says it’s true that Hasner received one F grade in one year where Hasner voted to ease gambling restrictions.

But in other years, he received A and B grades. Holan said it was not fair to judge Hasner entirely on just one year’s grade.

Also, she says Hasner’s office accused LeMieux of supporting gambling as well.

PolitiFact also looked at whether Sen. Bill Nelson was right in claiming it wasn't until he was able to "wrangle the actual streaming video" from BP that scientists were able to calculate the oil spill flow.

Holan says that’s “Mostly True.” On one hand, other Senators asked for that data, and other video images were available before.

But Nelson’s efforts helped lead to the release of high-definition video scientists say helped them make a good estimate of the oil gushing from the sea floor.
