SARASOTA -
There's an increase in red-watery eyes, coughing and sneezing among Anna Maria Island beach goers.
That's thanks to a red tide bloom that's been drifting north from Naples, according to the Mote Marine Red Tide Hotline.
But the southwesterly breezes that pushed the Karenia brevis algae ashore are expected to lessen for the weekend.
SOUND: (The forecast)
Tourism officials are concerned that the red tide outbreak will cut down on attendance for this weekend's the volleyball series according to the Sarasota Herald Tribune.
