The seminar featured information about the science behind red tide, health impacts and methods used to to predict where the toxic algae bloom will occur.

Representatives from Mote Marine Laboratory and START - Solutions to Avoid Red Tide - offered tips on how people on the front line of the tourist industry can deal with red tide. Barbara Nelson is with Ramada Inn.

She says the information will help hotels offer their guests alternatives to the beaches when red tide threatens.
