Jazz at Two Presents Vocalist June Garber
The Jazz Club of Sarasota continues its 2013 "Jazz at Two" concert series with vocalist June Garber, April 12, 2013. A newcomer to the local jazz scene, Garber previously had a long and successful career in Canada that included theater, touring, movie and television work. One critic hailed her as being, "without doubt, Toronto's most tasteful and elegant cabaret artist." Her 2009 CD, "Here's to You," was a CBC Top 5 Jazz Pick and was one of the most played jazz albums on Canadian radio that year. Garber moved to Sarasota in September 2012 and, since then, has been taking the region by a storm with her full, rich tones, impressive high notes and singing that evolves clearly from the heart. Garber will be joined by Tom Ellison on sax, Billy Pilucere on bass, David Pruyn on drums, and Eddie Tobin on piano. The series, which was founded in 2001, showcases the region's top jazz performers on Fridays, between 2 and 4 p.m., at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Sarasota, 3975 Fruitville Road, Sarasota. Tickets are $7 for Jazz Club members and $12 for non-members. A portion of ticket sales goes to the Jazz Club's scholarship fund.
