Saxophonist Chris Potter, bright-toned and gymnastically powerful, has been reading Homer lately. That's inspired his suite, The Sirens, recently released on ECM Records. Potter, who toured much of last year with Pat Metheny's Unity Band, and played in Tampa this spring with the Monterey Jazz Festival on Tour, plays his new music at the Village Vanguard on this Friday's JazzSet.
