Harvest Ball: Putting the "Culture" Back in Agriculture

Eat Local Week 2013's grand finale will feature a potluck, silent auction, music by the Barnstorm Quartet, and contra dancing.

Potluck starts at 6:00pm, dancing at 7:30. $10 admission at the door.

The Venue: The beautiful South Gate social hall, designed by Sarasota School architect Victor A. Lundy, sits on five private acres on the shady banks of Philippi Creek, just off South Gate Circle at Tuttle Avenue and Siesta Drive.

The Potluck: Local and organic foods encouraged. Please bring your own serving utensils and an index card with the name and ingredients of your dish on it. This event is BYOB.

The Music: The Barnstorm Quartet - Sharon Hartmann on fiddle, Billy Jickell on mandolin, Lee Simpson on guitar, and Chris Campbell on bass - is where old-time and bluegrass music hobnob with swing and Irish. These talented musicians from Winter Park have been playing the contra dance scene since the early 1990's.

Contra Dancing: Contra dancing is social interaction, meeting people, having fun, and making new friends, set to music. The rest is just details. People of all ages and lifestyles, including children, are welcome. No partner or experience necessary.
