Great Books Discussion - Winter Weekend for 2014

TAMPA BAY AREA GREAT BOOKS Winter CONFERENCE

The area's most prominent book discussion venue. A great mini vacation, or part of a longer visit to the central Florida area.

THE IMMIGRANT EXPERIENCE IN AMERICA

This topic has touched all of us one way or another, showing both our uniqueness and commonality as we have come to the American shores hoping to improve our family’s lives and fortunes.

Our reading selections will be:
Call it Sleep By Henry Roth
The Tortilla Curtain By T.C. Boyle
The Namesake By Jhumpa Lahiri

The vigorous and intellectually stimulating discussions will be lead by Great Books moderators following the “shared Inquiry” method to focus on our texts as we examine the Jewish, Mexican and Indian immigrant experiences.

REGISTRATION FEE: $199 includes tuition, a set of the books, all discussions, a reception/lecture and dinner Friday evening and lunch on Saturday.
