FARA's Ace for a Cure
Who- The Friedreich's Ataxia Research Alliance (FARA), is a non-profit organization dedicated to finding a cure for Friedreich’s ataxia (FA) through research.
What– FARA will be hosting Ace for a Cure, a tennis fundraiser featuring pro tennis player, John Isner.
Where- Avila Golf & Country Club, 943 Guisando de Avila, Tampa, 33613
When– Thursday, November 21, and Saturday and Sunday November 23 and 24th, 2013.
Why- One in 100 people carry the gene for FA, a neuromuscular degenerative disease that eventually robs people of their coordination and mobility. Even after losing coordination, people with FA often suffer heart conditions that lead to a premature death. There is currently no cure for FA. FARA raises awareness and helps fund scientists that make advances in finding a cure for FA.
The tennis exhibition with John Isner is Sunday, November 24, 2013. Sponsorships are available that include a meet and greet with John Isner on Thursday, November 21 at 7pm as well as a tennis round robin on Saturday, November 23. Saturday, November 23 will include a tennis teach-a-thon and spin-a-thon at Avila Golf & Country Club. There will also be a tennis exhibition on Sunday, November 24, 2013.
