A Murder Revisited: Author Stephen Jimenez to Discuss "The Book of Matt"

Bookstore1Sarasota presents award-winning journalist, writer and producer Stephen Jimenez, Monday, October 14, 7 p.m., at Fogartyville Community Media and Arts Center, 525 Kumquat Court in Sarasota. Jimenez will read passages from his recently published book, The Book of Matt: Hidden Truths about the Murder of Matthew Shepard, a provocative, spellbinding reexamination about the life and death of Matthew Shepard, a gay college student who was brutally murdered in 1998 in Wyoming. Jimenez’s book unravels, for the first time, the hidden complexities, motives, personalities and events surrounding this landmark crime. His thesis? Shepard was not killed for being gay but for reasons far more complicated. The event, a partnership with WSLR, is free and open to the public. A Q&A session and book signing will follow the reading.
