Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Manatee, Citrus and Hernando County public schools and district offices will be closed Thursday. All school-related activities are canceled for those counties as well.

Skyway Tanker Fire

On Tuesday, July 11th, a diesel tanker truck blew out a tire and caught fire near the top of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge in the southbound lanes. The driver walked away.

The incident snarled traffic for hours and left communities talking about transportation alternatives in the event of other problems on the bridge.
